Location
near Kenton, Devon

Description
Powderham Castle is the home of the Earl of Devon and still lived in by the Courtney family today. The estate is about 3500 acres overlooking the Exe estuary with about 3 miles of river foreshore.

History
The castle was built between 1390 and 1420 by Sir Philip Courtenay. It was extensively altered in both the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Arts
It was used as a location in shooting the film "The Remains of the Day". It was also used for the film comedy "Churchill: The Hollywood Years".
